Adam Bauer spent years playing bass alongside Krishna Das and studying devotional music at the feet of Shyamdas, two of the most revered figures in the Western Bhakti tradition. Since 2012, he has been leading kirtan and sacred chant programs on three continents, with three critically acclaimed solo albums, one produced by Gaura Vani and two produced with Ben Leinbach.
His three solo chanting albums are Shyam Lila (2014), Wonderville (2017), and Return to the Sacred (2020). His new album, Life + Death, will be released in October 2026.
Adam sings and offers workshops, programs and private sessions worldwide and online.
Adam’s work aims to witness, celebrate and integrate life’s joys and challenges with kindness, humor and grace. He brings deep presence, love, and inspiration into his coaching, devotional and somatic work.
Adam’s spiritual path began early, and has included the I Ching, hands-on healing arts and yoga, psychedelic-assisted work, devotional music, plant medicine and more. A trained massage therapist and ontological coach, Adam graduated with an honors degree in Organizational Development and Social Change from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst.
After co-founding reggae-rock band The Equalites at 21, Adam spent years playing bass with sacred chant pioneer Krishna Das, and later with Bhakti Yoga scholar and practitioner Shyamdas, both of whom nourished his love of sacred sound and the yoga of devotion. He’s been leading sacred chant programs since 2012.
Every being in the universe is an expression of the Tao.
It springs into existence, unconscious, perfect, free,
takes on a physical body, lets circumstances compete it.
