Workshop: Healing Our Relationship with Death, w/Adam Bauer, John Flynn & Indy Drosser

An afternoon of community conversation, song, and ritual for those touched by death and grief.
Death is something every one of us will encounter, yet in our culture it is often kept at a distance. What might become possible if we were willing to open the door to a deeper conversation?
Song Keepers is honored to welcome Adam Bauer for an intimate afternoon exploring our relationship with death, grief, dying, and mortality through conversation, music, reflection, and ritual. Adam will serve as our special guest facilitator, drawing from his own experiences with death and grief, his work as a sacred chant facilitator, and his training as an end-of-life doula to help guide us through this exploration.
John Flynn, physician, musician, and founder of Song Keepers, and Indy Drossner, licensed clinical social worker and end-of-life doula, will serve as hosts and facilitators alongside Adam. John and Indy will each share from their own personal and professional journeys with death, grief, caregiving, and the end of life, while helping to hold the space for the wider community to reflect, listen, and share.
This gathering is for the whole community including:
- Those currently experiencing or who have experienced the death of someone they love
- Those who are coping with serious illness
- Caregivers and others supporting people who are seriously ill
- Those who work in the field of death and dying
- Musicians and artists who wish to deepen their relationship with these themes
- Anyone who feels called to open the door to a bigger conversation about death and dying in our culture.
Together, we will make space to listen, share, sing, reflect, and connect with one another. The afternoon will include guided conversation, small-group reflection, music and song, and a communal ritual by the river as an opportunity to honor grief, life, death, and the mystery we share.
No experience with song, ritual, or meditation are required. Come as you are.

Facilitators & Hosts
Adam Bauer
Adam Bauer is an international recording artist and sacred chant facilitator who spent years playing bass alongside Krishna Das and studying under Shyamdas. Since 2012, he has been leading kirtan, workshops, and transformational programs around the world. Adam is also a life coach, massage therapist, and student of the I Ching, one of the world’s oldest living wisdom traditions. He brings qualities of presence, kindness, humor, and grace to each of his offerings.
Adam has completed death doula training through Emberlight: The Center for Conscious Living and Dying, bringing a deeper relationship with the end-of-life process to his work. This gathering comes just days after the October 8 release of his fourth solo album, Life + Death, a deeply personal exploration of mortality, surrender, and the mystery of life and death.
John Flynn
John Flynn is a physician, musician, and founder of Song Keepers, a nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing sacred and healing music to those who may need it most, including those experiencing illness, grief, isolation, and other significant life transitions. John spent years working as a hospital medicine physician before pursuing additional training in Integrative Medicine and Hospice and Palliative Medicine through Jefferson.
John’s work at the intersection of medicine, healing, music, and spirituality has shaped a growing interest in how song and shared human connection can support us through some of life’s most difficult thresholds. John has played guitar and sung for over two decades and has more recently been facilitating kirtan and other sacred music gatherings through Song Keepers. Through this work, John hopes to create spaces where people can come together through song and remember that we don’t have to face life’s thresholds alone.
Indy Drossner
Indy (Mindy) Drossner is a licensed clinical social worker and end-of-life doula with nearly three decades of experience accompanying older adults and families through aging, illness, caregiving, grief, dying, and other significant life transitions. Her background spans hospice care, private care management, and counseling in a variety of elder care settings, bringing together practical guidance and compassionate presence to support people through the emotional, relational, spiritual, and logistical dimensions of grief, aging, and the end of life.
Indy’s work is rooted in the belief that, even during life’s most difficult and tender seasons, there is profound capacity for meaning, connection, dignity, healing, and peace. A lifelong student of meditation, yoga, and healing practices, she is especially drawn to the ways reflection, ritual, shared presence, music, and honest conversation can help us meet grief and mortality with less fear and greater connection.
We would love to have you join us. Please reach out to info@songkeepers.org with any questions.

What Is Song Keepers?
Song Keepers is a nonprofit community organization rooted in the power of sacred song to heal, connect, and serve at life’s thresholds. We cultivate communal spaces centered on devotional music in response to a growing longing for meaningful, heart-centered experiences.
Beyond public gatherings, Song Keepers offers healing music and compassionate presence in life’s most tender transitions, particularly for those approaching death and the loved ones who walk beside them.
We also bring this work to those often overlooked or underserved, including people in prisons and medical facilities. We believe these moments carry profound healing potential, not only for those receiving care, but also for those who serve. This work is reciprocal, relational, and deeply human.
