Bhakti, Epicurus and the Tao: Integrating service into our pursuit of happiness and pleasure
In a world of steel-eyed death and people fighting to keep warm, we are challenged to embody the qualities of service and devotion into our pursuit of happiness. What do these ideas even mean?
The practitioners of Bhakti seek happiness in seva and the ever-unfolding dance of separation and union; followers of the Tao seek alignment with the forces of nature through following the flow of spontaneous energy; acolytes of the I Ching seek to honor Life through service and harmonious action; the ancient Greek philosopher Epicurus wrote of pleasure as the highest goal—referring not to the lower bodily cravings but of the higher happiness possible through arts and culture.
All paths essentially revolve around the world of relational communion, the field of play and action in which we—together and alone—live and breathe.
In this workshop, we will explore and play with these Big Ideas, learning and practicing ancient and effective techniques for accessing the profound wisdom the world has been dying for us to reach for.
All are welcome, no prior experience necessary. Nobody turned away for lack of funds.
Come join us!
