Gracias, Barcelona

June 12, 2024

Well, that was quite a little big city whirlwind this past week in Barcelona. My gratitude to my new friend Paula for putting me up in the heart of the city in a great little homebase for all my adventures. And to Jaya Deva for introducing me to a number of good Kirtan-loving folks and fellow singers over these recent weeks in Spain.

I arrived from Mallorca just in time to share a sunset rooftop deck kirtan with Paula and her mother and a number of their sangha there—always a good way to enter a new community. From there, it was a new kirtan most every night, in and around the Barcelona area: Friday with Almudena and Srivats at Jardin de Hara, Saturday with Savitri and Sam at Omkara Yoga an hour north of town in Premia de Mar, Sunday the 9th shared an evening of Hanuman Chalisas to a packed house with Jaya Deva at Yoga One Surya, and then returned there the next evening for a shared evening with Barcelona fave Manu Om. I was so glad to finally meet Manu, and I really enjoyed his kirtan a lot—looking forward to singing more with him at Yoga Mela in Sweden in a few weeks.

Barcelona was definitely feeling like a big city after several weeks of island life—but before I could blink, it was time to take a train up to southern France for some time in the historical home of the Cathar and Templar traditions…
